Frequently Asked Questions
Are heated throws safe to use on a covered porch?
Yes — for covered, dry porches a low-voltage heated throw with ETL or FCC certification and an automatic shut-off timer is appropriate. Avoid using any electric blanket in wet conditions and keep controllers dry and off damp surfaces.
Can I machine wash these heated throws?
Most models reviewed are machine washable if you detach the controller first and follow the manufacturer’s care instructions. Look for clear care labels and reinforced stitching to help maintain softness and color after repeated washes.
How do I avoid uneven heating or failure over time?
Choose throws with PTC/NTC or advanced heating-wire technology, use moderate heat settings, avoid folding while powered, and follow care directions. Many reports of failures stem from rough handling of the controller or machine washing without detachment.
