Frequently Asked Questions
Are polyester and microfiber throws mold-resistant?
Polyester and microfiber dry faster and resist mildew better than natural fibers, but no material is fully mold-proof. The best practice is to avoid leaving damp throws folded; dry them thoroughly and store in a ventilated area to prevent mold growth.
How do I care for an outdoor throw to prevent mildew and odors?
Machine-wash on a gentle cycle using cold water and mild detergent, then tumble dry low or air-dry completely before storage. If a throw gets soaked, hang it to dry fully in sunlight when possible; sunlight helps reduce odors and microbial growth.
Is down a good choice for outdoor porch blankets?
Down offers high warmth-to-weight performance and packability, but it absorbs and holds moisture longer than synthetics and requires careful drying. For frequently damp outdoor use, synthetic fills and polyester shells are generally more practical.
